Other details: In his first letter Mr Henniker thought these armorials belonged to the family of Talwas proche Isigny, but in his second letter he corrects this impression and speaks of them with more certainty as those of the Barons D'Aulnay, which appear in the lists of Dumoulin and of Brompton. The only English shield with these charges is that given by Burke and Papworth for Sangman - the reading is Sable, a pile between 6 martlets argent, three and three. Bulletin Monumental XIII p 441.
