Other details: (Dug up in a grave). See M H Bloxham's Principles of Gothic Ecclesiastical Architecture: VoI I p 231. Another 4 7/8 inch square exhibits on a red ground the figure of a civilian in the costume of the 14th century clad in a close fitting tunic or cotehardi reaching to the thighs, with the hood worn on the head and over the shoulders, close fitting pantaloons or hose envelop[es the thighs and legs and long liripipes (Pendant streamers on tails to the hood. Fairholts Glossary) fall from his close fitting sleeves. In his left hand is held a roundel of some description, whilst a dog and trees figures as accessories.The design is delineated in yellow on a red ground. Where this tile was from I have no knowedlge but I have met with similar tiles. It is of the 14th century.
