When Jno the last male representative of the ancient Earls of Surrey died at an advanced age. Dugdale writes that Jno de Warren, mentioned below was a posthumous child, his father William having died 14 Edward 1 AD 1276. Jno was married to Joan daughter of the Earl of Baar by whom he had no issue, but that during her lifetime he had two sons by Maud de Hereford, a person of great family in Norfolk named John and who were similarly Warren; also that John bore for his arms as is written below the canton representing Hereford. From this John the Warrens of Poynton Cheshire are descended.
