Other details: | A tile in the Museum at York which the cipher and crozier of an abbot is impressed representing probably that of Will de Rymington DD Chancellor of Oxford in 1372, the contemporary and antagonist of Wycliffe who died towards the close of the 14th century. Wil de Rymington's tombstone is figured in J Harland's History of Salley Abbey. Mr. Harland says he was elected Prior of Salley subsequently to holding the highest honours and dignities of the University. The crook or crosier has been added from a more perfect tile drawn by Mr Harland. |
